Frequently asked questions

What is "per employer" pricing?

You pay a flat monthly fee based on your employee headcount. You are NOT charged per employee, per payslip, or per RTI submission. The Micro plan covers 1–5 employees regardless of how many payslips you generate.

What happens when I grow beyond my plan?

Move to the next tier at any point. Upgrades are immediate. Downgrades take effect at the next billing cycle.

What is the Agency tier for?

Recruitment agencies that use umbrella companies in their supply chain. Finance Act 2025 transferred PAYE liability from umbrellas to agencies from April 2026. The Agency tier is the only payroll product built to manage that exposure — FCSA monitoring, fraud scoring, reconciliation engine.

What is the Umbrella tier for?

Umbrella companies that process payroll for contractors. The Umbrella tier includes FCSA 14-standard compliance tracking, contractor payslip portal, and a full audit trail for Finance Act 2025 evidence.

Is there a bureau / accountant plan?

Yes — the Bureau plan covers an unlimited number of employer clients. Each client's payroll is processed independently with separate PAYE references and RTI submissions.

Does payroll.law submit RTI to HMRC?

Yes. FPS is submitted on or before every payment date. EPS is submitted for nil periods and statutory pay reclaim. All submissions are tested against HMRC test environment before going live.

What is the Human QA gate?

Every payroll run goes to our Human QA team before the FPS reaches HMRC. A trained reviewer checks every employee's gross pay, tax, NI and pension. No FPS is submitted without human approval. This is non-negotiable — it is the feature that prevents incorrect RTI submissions.

Can I use payroll.law with employ.law?

Yes. If you use both products, employee records sync automatically. Zero re-entry. employ.law handles employment law and contracts; payroll.law handles payroll processing.
